Muck, der Zauberonkel

Erika Mann

Muck, der Zauberonkel

The brothers Hassi and Ecki receive a surprise visit from Amsterdam, from their uncle Muck. 1934, at the time the book was written, Amsterdam, along with Paris, was home to many emigrants from Nazi Germany. The visit of the uncle turns the life of the two brothers, which the uncle mixes up, into an adventure.

Originally, Erika Mann wanted to publish the book with Verlag Levy und Müller, Stuttgart. Due to the racist policy and the conditions and restrictions imposed on Jewish publishers by the Nazis, the first edition was published in 1934 by the Philografien Verlag Basel.

The first edition was entitled 'Zauberonkel Muck'. Later editions were also published under the title 'Unser Zauberonkel Muck'.

The offer includes a copy of the first edition in 1934
