The 3rd edition of this satire on the political situation and politicians in Britain at the turn of the century. It came out four months after the first issue (June)! – “Closely based on the original, parodic depiction of political events in Great Britain around the turn of the century; e.g. B. Also the Boer War, which today are mostly only known to the specialized historian. The writer and journalist Begbie (1871–1929) published some satires. The illustrator Gould (1844–1925) was a successful caricaturist and controversial liberal journalist” (Rühle I 1230). – “The British lion acts as Struwwelpeter, the bitterly angry Friederich is portrayed by the then Colonial Minister Joseph Chamberlain, who is bitten in the leg by a boar as a symbol of the Boers.” (Bilderwelt 1798, 2. ed.).
